🏆 Good news! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Our school’s Chinese and English Debate Team members teamed up and competed in the “6th International Chinese Language Festival Bilingual Debate Competition” organized by the Chinese Language Festival Association on 9 May 2026.
In the Primary 6–7 division, competing against elite teams from two international schools (Victoria Shanghai Academy and Victoria Park Academy), our team finished the round-robin stage with a 1-win 1-loss record and advanced to the final. They then went on to win Second Place (Silver Medal)!
During the competition, students demonstrated excellent bilingual reasoning and critical thinking. They debated the following two topics:
Group Stage Debate Topic: “In modern schools, students should be encouraged to limit the use of artificial intelligence in learning.”
Our school competed as both sides during the round-robin—once as the Pro side (encourage) and once as the Con side (limit).
Final Debate Topic: “Short-form videos make people’s understanding more learned but also more superficial.”
In the final, our school was on the Con side, arguing that short-form videos make people’s understanding more superficial.
In the final, even facing strong opponents, the team remained calm and performed brilliantly with their logical reasoning skills and oratorical abilities. This achievement is a tremendous encouragement for our students! 🎉🎉🎉
