Jockey Club Family School Sports Program

Launched in September 2017, this five-year pilot sports program is a collaboration between the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Faculty of Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute. The program recruits 35 local primary schools and approximately 30,000 students and their parents.
Objectives
The program aims to leverage family-school cooperation and electronic technology to design a more effective exercise and physical activity model to help students establish a healthy lifestyle. The research team will invite education experts, parents, principals, and teachers to collaboratively enhance students’ ability, motivation, opportunities, and effectiveness in participating in physical activities, creating a healthy and active learning environment and fostering students’ lifelong interest in sports.
Our school successfully participated in the Jockey Club Family School Sports Program last year, and we invite parents and their children to join this activity this school year. Participating students and one parent/guardian must wear a fitness wristband (similar to a watch, free of charge) during the school year to record their activity levels. The team will collect activity data for analysis, allowing parents to assist students in understanding their exercise performance and effectiveness.
