Non-Chinese speaking guided tour

To help our non-Chinese speaking students learn about Hong Kong’s history and culture, we arranged a guided tour of Tai O. A professional guide introduced several historically significant sites, including Wing On Street, Tai O Bridge, Kat Hing Street, Sun Ki Bridge, and the San Ki Stilt Houses (Hut Area). Using photos and maps, the guide explained the local population features, how buildings adapt to the environment, the infrastructure used to monitor water levels, and important historical events in the area.

Students also had the chance to take part in a salted-egg drying workshop. Under the instructor’s guidance, each student successfully separated the egg white from the yolk, experiencing a task that looks simple but requires care and attention. After the visit, students said they gained a deeper understanding of Tai O’s stilt-house architecture and fishing-village culture; many wanted to continue experiencing the salted-egg drying process because they found it so engaging.
